Wash My Sin Away follows the story of Lena, a young woman who fled from ex-Yugoslavia's republic of Slovenia just before the break-out of the Yugoslav Wars. When she receives news about her mother's death, she is forced to face her personal history. But as she is struggling to accept the consequences of her past decisions she inevitably rethinks the political history of her country of origin. The visions of her dead

Serbian father as well as the presence of her boss, a Croatian expatriate, make her consider the weight of an individual's responsibility for the decisions of a political entity. How much is any civilian to be blamed for the terrors of the Yugoslav Wars and their aftermath? Can a person ever truly distance themselves from the use of violence? And is Lena going to find the courage to go back and face her country, her family and her past?

The play is set in the basement laundry of a small hotel in England where, amongst the stained shirts and the hot steam each of the characters is looking for their own truth and justice.
